In today’s video I explain why I so drastically changed my diet to reverse the vitamin B12 deficiency, and how where I live, what foods are locally available to me and how my health history had a huge influence in that decision.
Transitioning off of a diet you have been on for a very long time is never easy. I can definitely admit that!! As most everyone knows, it’s only been in recent years that I started eating meats, fish and animal products again. I was a strict vegetarian for 20 years and on a 100% raw vegan diet for almost 4 years following that, but because of a vitamin B12 deficiency I developed while on the raw vegan diet, I decided to incorporate meats, fish, seafood and animal products back into my diet to reverse the deficiency. That dietary change was massive for me, on all levels, and I can be the first one to admit that during the transition I fumbled and made mistakes. In today’s video I share the three biggest mistakes I made during the first 6 months of transitioning off of the raw vegan diet and what I learned from that experience.
Coconut milk and coconut cream is delicious when fresh! If you can buy mature coconuts, I highly recommend making your own coconut milk and coconut cream over buying it in a can or powdered. In today’s video I show just how easy it is to make it from scratch, all you need is a mature coconut, some plain water, a grater, and a strainer. Easy!!!
I love Coconuts!! And making fresh coconut milk and coconut cream is super easy once you know how to open a mature coconut and get the fresh meat out. In today’s video my husband will demonstrate how to open a mature coconut (he’s the official coconut opener in our household!).
The other day someone posted a question about fruit, asking if they were eating too much fruit and how would they know? This person said they are eating 10-15 fruits a day, which in my book is a lot! Doing a day or two of eating all fruit as a cleanse is fine, it’s short-term, but when someone goes on a long-term diet of exclusively eating fruit (like a fruitarian diet), or a very high fruit diet, over time they will probably run into some health issues. So in today’s video I talk about this, I also go over some of the symptoms of having too much fruit in the diet, give some recommendations and guidelines as to how much fruit is optimal, plus offer some suggestions for substitutes and alternatives. It’s all about finding a healthy balance!! 🙂
