Living Libations Skin Care Product Review

I thought I would do something a little different today, a product line review of one of my favourite skin care lines, Living Libations! I’ve been a returning customer of theirs for over 6-7 years (I’m not sure I’ve ever actually used any other product line for that long, which says a lot!)

As everyone knows I am very passionate about natural skin care (in fact I’m actually currently writing my first book on natural skin care, more info on that soon!). I made the switch to using natural skin care products and non-toxic ingredients a little less than 10 years ago after unsuccessfully trying to resolve adult acne with mainstream commercial beauty products (which did nothing for my skin but make it worse). I fell in love with making my own homemade cleansers and moisturizers, and also exploring and experimenting with organic, non-toxic,”green beauty products.” Incorporating both a healthy whole food diet, and using all natural skin care products, together, helped my skin completely clear up.

As I’m getting older (I’m 39), and my skin is exposed to the hot Indonesian sun, pollution, air conditioning, etc. I want to do all I can to preserve the youthfulness of my skin. I would say since my mid-thirties I’ve had to take extra steps in my skin care routine to keep my skin supple and hydrated, and do what I can to keep wrinkles and fine lines at bay. I have to say I have very unforgiving skin, if I eat something that doesn’t agree with me, it shows up on my skin in the form of rashes, skin irritation, bumps, itchy patches, and blemishes (lucky me!). So when I first tried Living Libations products many years ago, I fell in love with the product line because not only were they made of all natural ingredients and high quality essential oils, but they also helped to sooth my sensitive skin, and heal any sporadic skin irritations I would have.

To get started on the Living Libations review, I’d like to talk about the skin products I love from their line, what I’ve actually bought over and over again, what I recommend and why, and at the end, talk about my wish list for future purchases!

Living Libations Review

Serums & Facial Skin Care

To me, the serums are the shining stars in Living Libations product line. The serums are fabulous, and if you were to try anything from Living Libations, I would recommend starting with a serum. I’ve tried quite a few serums from their product line, and the two I love the most is the Chocolate Karat Serum and RoseGlow Serum. What I like about the serums is how soothing they are to my skin, and very moisturizing as well. A little does go a long way, and a small bottle can last over a year! I use the serum only at night, and either on it’s own after washing my face, or with a moisturizer (the moisturizer I recommend would be the RoseGlow Face Crème, and to use it with the RoseGlow Serum, especially if you have mature skin). The RoseGlow products are not included in the photo above because I’ve already used them up, and sadly, only when I return to Canada will I be able to repurchase (and as you can see in the photo above, I’m also running low on all their other products as well!)

Eye Care

Since my twenties I’ve always had crow’s feet/fine lines at the outer edges of my eyes (my mother too developed them at a very young age). Let’s just say I’ve tried a lot of eye creams over the last two decades, both high end and low end, commercial and natural products, and I have to say Living Libations Open Sky Eye Serum and All Seeing Eye Crème are amazing! The serum is very light, so there’s no way it can clog the fine pores around the eyes, and I love the choice of essential oils in the eye cream which have a nice cooling effect on the delicate skin around my eyes (perfect to use first thing in the morning, or if you are prone to water-retention or puffiness around the eye area). I actually keep the eye cream in the refridgerator to add an extra cooling effect which counters the hot climate and humidity here in Bali (perfect to do in the summer months if you want a cooling but moisturizing eye cream).

Body Care

I also love the Radiant Love Butter, the scent is to die for! If there was one recommendation or request I would make to Living Libations is to actually make some sort of perfume using the essential oil blend they use for the Radiant Love Butter. I love love love the scent of it!

And lastly, one product I continuously buy from them is the Verve Tonic (formerly call Lymph + Tonic) that I use during my daily dry skin brushing routine. I just use one or two drops of the oil on my dry skin brush, and I find it stimulates increased blood circulation, and adds an invigorating lift from the essential oil blend. I have to say just by adding the Verve Tonic to my dry skin brushing routine, I’m more consistent with doing it, and enjoy it much more!

My Wish List!

I don’t think I could give a glowing review of Living Libations products without mentioning the products I want to try next, and have on my wish list! If anyone has visited their website, you’ll see they have a very extensive product line, I have to admit over the years I’ve tried quite a few things already, but there’s still more I want to try! I am a huge lover of vanilla (I have their vanilla essential oil which is divine), so I’d like to try their Best Skin Ever – Vanilla. I was also SUPER excited when they came out with a Gardenia Perfume. My favourite flower on earth is Gardenia. Absolute favourite! I even have Gardenia growing in my garden, and I recently made my husband plant a second tree!! I just adore it, but I’ve never tried a gardenia perfume, so this is definitely first in line on my wish list!! Next time I go to Canada or someone comes to this side of the world and can bring it for me, I will definitely buy it, and do a review!!

Have you tried any of Living Libations’ products, and if so, what’s your favourite?!!!

Also, if you like this review, let me know and I’ll continue doing other reviews (and if you have any requests, please post them as well!)

  1. Great review, I love Living Libations too, especially their Seabuckthorn Best Skin Ever. There’s many products I haven’t tried yet, but my next buy will definitely be among your recommendations! I am 39 as well and the roseglow sounds interesting. Would love to see more reviews like this one and look forward to your book. Thanks for all the great advice, recipes and inspiration :0)

    1. Hi Anna,
Thank you for your comment! I do highly recommend the RoseGlow cream and serum. I recently received a new RoseGlow cream (I haven’t been able to repurchase it for a long time, maybe a year or so), and right when I used it, it reminded me just how much I love this product! I’ve tried many Living Libations products over the years, and I find the RoseGlow extremely gentle and nourishing, especially for skin that’s “maturing.”
I will continue doing reviews, I really enjoy doing it!! 🙂

  2. I love all of the items purchased from Living Libations. My favourite is the Seabuckthorn Best Skin Ever. The scent is amazing and I use it all over my body and face. It could easily replace every single moisturizer and body cream I own, but I still have to use up all my old stuff. I love the way my skin feels after using it. I use it morning and night. I was recently on vacation in Florida and I thought it would be too hot to use on my face during the day, but I was wrong. I found my skin continued to drink up the oil and it never made my face oily even in the hot weather. I also use their natural dental products, Healthy Gums Drops and Healthy Gums Clay Toothpaste. So far so good with both products as my teeth feel better and look whiter. And finally, I use their Open Sky Eye Serum. A small amount under my eyes help with tired puffy eyes in the morning. I plan to purchase more of their products in the near future. I’ve got my eye on their Everybody Loves Sunshine with zinc sunscreen and I want to try one of their lotions, Seabuckthorn Tamanu All Over Lotion.

    1. Thank you Jenny for sharing! Looks like their Seabuckthorn Best Skin Ever is quite a hit amongst a lot of people, I’ve also heard a lot of great things about their shampoo and conditioner. I have their Healthy Gum Drops but I haven’t been diligent or consistent with using it, so I didn’t include it in the review, but you reminded me to take it out and start using it (the toothpaste you mentioned also sounds good!). Ahhhh, so many things to try!! 🙂 I was recently gifted the Gardenia perfume, it is absolutely heavenly!! Best perfume ever! (I’ll be doing a review very soon!!)

  3. thanks for the reviews. I hadn’t heard of the line at all.
I am so curious, who gifts these products to you?
