One of my favourite teas is hibiscus tea, and luckily here in Bali I can actually grow the flowers in my garden (the above photo is taken at my home!). There are many different ways to prepare hibiscus tea, and I’d have to say my favourite way is to add a little sweetener and some lime. I love this hot or over ice!

For those that have high blood pressure, hibiscus tea is well known to lower blood pressure (drink it daily without any sweetener!!), and also helps improve circulation. It’s also packed with anti-oxidents, so therefore it’s also a great anti-inflammatory as well!

Below is my favourite hibiscus tea recipe, plus a video showing how to make the tea using fresh flowers. You can always substitute the fresh flowers with loose dried hibiscus flowers or hibiscus tea bags (which are available at most health food stores or large grocery stores, sometime sold under the name rosella, roselle, sorelle, etc.).

Hibiscus & Lime Tea (makes 1 serving)
1 Fresh Hibsicus Flower (or 2-3 dried Hibiscus Flowers or 1 Hibiscus tea bag)
1 to 2 tsps Raw Honey (if like sweet tea use 1 Tbsp of Raw Honey)
1/2 wedge of fresh Lime
1 Cup boiling Water

Directions:
1- Remove stem and stamen from the Hibiscus flower (skip this step if using dried hibiscus)
2- Place fresh or dried flower(s) in cup, mug or tea pot and pour hot water over flower(s).
3- If using a fresh hibiscus flower, let sit for 5-10 minutes, if using dried hibiscus, can soak for a minimum of 10 minutes, and even up to a few days!
4- Remove flower(s) from hot water.
5- Add honey and lime to tea.
6- Serve hot or let cool and serve over ice as an iced tea.
Enjoy!!
